My Angel story

So last week, I ventured out to another bridal show alone.  It was with Victoria Secret and I am obsessed with Victoria Secret bridal, so you could only imagine I had to go.  That week was nuts for me, so by the time I got around to R.S.V.P.ing it was too late.  After I called the store and begged the manager, he said to ask for him at the door and  it would be no problem.

So Wednesday comes around after I had an absolutely I hate NYC week. I got shoved down on the Subway and got food poisoning from a restaurant and countless other things that may not be blog appropriate. So I dragged myself to the Victoria Secret bridal shower for brides hosted by Lily Aldridge, the spokesperson for the bridal line and an "Angel."  Well...I got the early and went across the street to do some browsing.  I saw a very cute little white dress with my name on it, and decided to try it on.  I grabbed a size bigger than I normally wear..an 8...and went to the dressing room.  Ummm...it was horrible...it was too tight...I realized holy hell where did all of these Irish moles and freckles on my back come from...and my spider veins...oh my...my spider veins.  To say the least, I was panicked.  I started to wonder if my self image of what I thought I looked like matched my actual image.  Choking back the tears, I turned in the dress and walked across the street to the Victoria Secret to stand in line to get in.  The line was around the corner already filled with brides and their honors, mothers, and maids.  I stood there by myself and turned to Words with Friends.

Fifteen lonely minutes later, the line moves and everyone is told to take out their I.D.'s.  We all move up slowly until my turn.  I get to the door, happily show my I.D. and say my name.  Of course, I am not on the list...I then ask for the manager, Kevin who was so kind to add me.  She replies, we have many Kevin's.  <inserting breaking point of my day> and I think she could smell the tears coming.  She asked," is it just you?" I sadly reply,"yes."  She ties a blue ribbon around my wrist and says,"Congratulations on your wedding."  Of course after this, I am not in the mood to browse through gaggles of groups of brides and their posse's and I decide to go upstairs instead to the bathing suits and lounge wear. It was a ghost town up there...and it was just what I needed.  It reminded me of moment in Annie when all of the servants were there waiting for her and asking her what she needed.  It was just what I needed.

I overwhelmingly thanked every one of them and went to the bathing suits...and saw it.  I think you know by now, I am in love with my wedding secretly...and I love the special bridal attire...and wish I could wear it forever.  SO you can imagine how I felt about bathing suit bottoms with "Just Married" written across them.  So I picked them up, checked the price, and put them back.  Picked them up considered..if it was worth it...I mean when else would I ever wear these puppies I asked myself.  I picked them up and put them back at least 4 more times.  I took a picture of them sent it to James asking if I needed these and continued to stare.  Well, I felt someone walk up beside me. I imagined it was a salesperson coming to help me.  She stood shoulder to shoulder with me.  She then says..." you know you have to buy these things...you only get married once."  I turn.  I kid you not...the beautiful lady was in a silver gown...and it hit me...this is an angel.  I looked at her hand remember I had read she was engaged, and said," Please tell me, the wedding is just as stressful to you as it is to me."  She said,"yes."  I smiled and she smiled.  By the way, my phone was still in my hand the whole time with the camera on.  I went downstairs and paid for my new swimsuit, grabbed a gift bag full of goodies, and thought ..no where else but NYC could an angel helped me with that purchase.  I sighed and had an I heart NYC day.
More on Lily Aldridge and the show

Pictures of her and the show

By the way...James is totally pissed I didn't send him a picture with her ummm or of her! :)

My Angel story ...enjoy.

A kiss and a song

Yes, you guessed it we have picked our first dance song once again.  What happened to the rest of the songs, you ask?  Let me explain.  James and I both are the type of people who are not interested in following a crowd. I was introduced of Jack Johnson in the early years of his career.  I loved him before everyone knew his name. His concerts were intimate and small...his songs were about surfing and love.  I ignored the flood of teenie boppers who found him too years ago, and still chose to love him.  Naturally, 4 years ago our theme song and our song was "Better Together" even to go as far as we seriously considered getting matching tattoos with the a line from the lyrics.  I still love this song...and it plays every time James calls but to share our first dance song with hundreds maybe millions of other newbie wanna be Jack Johnson fans...I'm sorry...I can't have it...and neither could James.  We are by far not a cookie cutter couple nor do we want a cookie cutter wedding(eeeeeeeeeeeeekkkk). So we scratched it and were song less for some time <sigh>.
So we spend many nights googling and searching our Itunes library.  We wanted something classic, romantic, not too long, not too slow, not over done.  I know what you are saying...good luck! We liked a lot of songs...or should I say I would like one a lot but he wouldn't...and vise verse.
So many to choose from...then we found Into the Mystic and loved it.  It's classic and romantic.  And we have been with this decision happily until I started googling first dance ideas.  I came across a page that stated the song was used in "American Wedding" from the American Pies series as their first dance.  I wasn't crazy about this, but we chose to ignore it...UNTIL one of Jame's coworkers said," ohhhh that's the song from the Eat, Pray and Love."  I knew it was over after that! So here we were again...on the hunt again.  And trust me every time I found the one James had a reason why it wasn't.  For instance, my best friend suggested "Moon River" from the romantic Sex in the City episode with Carrie and Big dancing their farewell (supposedly) dance in his empty living room.
I know so romantic...I could just die...and I did when James said isn't that song from "Fletch?"

Insert sigh here.

So then I decided on my way home yesterday after a rough day at work, I would listen to my favorite girl of the year, Adele. I came across one of her songs...and I thought...oh my...this is just perfect....and later James agreed.

So ladies and gentlemen...our first dance song...

Now about that kiss...I will admit I was 4 minutes late for work this morning to witness this kiss live...

I adore her dress and LOVE her sister's dress even more!! How dreamy and how exciting to have a royal wedding in my lifetime!! Thank you William and Kate! You both are equally as dreamy.

Happy Weekend!!

Would you do the same?

Hit play por favor...

So, I have come to the conclusion weddings are a test for most couples.  They make you judge your friends and place them in order of importance in your life.  They make you choose between friends and family, and who you want to make happy the most and who will understand that you can't make everyone happy.  They make you judge your friends' relationships..whether they should be granted a guest or not. They make you feel rejected when friends and family just aren't that excited.  They make you count every penny...twice...three times...and then once again.  They make you re-evaluate your outlook on love in general.  So basically they shake your snow globe of a world up so much that you often can't see shoot and aren't sure which way is up or down.  In the end if you as a couple are still standing strong ready to still walk down the aisle and hold each other's hand for eternity...you win, my friend (and be proud of it).  Everything I thought I knew 1 year ago today has gone out the window and flown away leaving feathers and dust in it's path.  Weddings...who would have thought? The happiest time of your life is the most stressful time! Gee...I can't wait for kids!!  I believe it's the reason you have friends stand by your side and someone walk you down the aisle.  I think they are there to hold you up and support you.

Don't get me wrong and don't be mistaken, I adore my wonderful fiance.  We are the happiest when we are happy, and fight like any other couple through our hiccups and stumbles. So I give you this my friends, a quote I read and believe through my soul...

"In my opinion the best thing you can you do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you, the right person will still think the sun shines out of your a*s. That’s the kind of person that’s worth sticking with."
Then of course, my all time favorite...

"I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." ~Marilyn Monroe

I am so lucky for I have found that person.  The person I wrote lists for and prayed for...I am truly blessed.  So listen up Mr. Wedding ( it's selfish...it's a man) you can just keep throwing your curve balls and stress.  And listen up Ms Hiccups and Mrs. Stumbles...I see you for what you all are and I don't care.  Mind your business and go to "H" "E" double hockey sticks!

This brings me to my favorite love songs...

Much love everyone!!

Did somebody say Tiffany?

I think every little girl dreams about Tiffany's and a magical shopping day similar to "Pretty Woman." So...James and I set out on a magical journey to the ...wait for it...THE TIFFANY store.  We weren't there for a big diamond (already have that one), we were there for something I have been dreaming about...yes...my Daisy flutes.  We tossed around the idea of buying flutes, and finally decided on it.  These beautiful little dears are coming with us to Key West for our first toast as husband and wife, and then plan on toasting in these little beauties each year on our anniversary.  So...enough with the chatter...ladies and gentlemen...my our wedding flutes.

I have the best fiance...I truly am so lucky.
