I'm back!

Vegas has come and gone so now the countdown to the wedding is on! Can you believe we are almost at the 100 day mark? ME either.  This weekend, I promise to finish  the fans at least and start the labels for the candy buffet.  I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend with Miss Daisy May in between jobs.  She was so cute when I came home from Vegas.  My amazing other half picked me up at the airport so he brought me in to her.  She would curl around me wagging her little tail then run back to him saying "thank you for bringing the mommy back" in her puppy way then straight back to me!!  I.  love.  her.

Today is a big day for me though...the dean, assistant dean, and the committee sit down to review my application for this fall.  Originally I received a denial letter after applying for 2 1/2 years (even with a 3.5 GPA), but I was persistent and asked for them to review it again.  To my astonishment, I was called for an interview last week!  Unluckily for me, I came down with a sinus infection (still have one) and lost my voice.  I powered through it and it went very well (at least I thought so). So after one doctor's appointment trying to get me well...darn you allergies...and one great interview...let's pray I get a great response by tomorrow!

So this week is a big week!!  And...sigh...it's my birthday Friday BUT I am denying it to everyone.  Not only am I working both jobs on Friday...I miss my other half and I have spent too many birthdays in the past years without him (thank you Ulysses's...).  SO...let's pretend it's not happening, please?  The wedding celebration is well enough birthday for me:).

So I hope everyone is having a great week!! Talk to you in a few days.

I have a confession

Hey Everyone... I have a confession I need to get off my chest today.  I. love. my. wedding.  Yes, I have bad days.  Yes, I may not be having a princess like engagement due to the fact we live so far away.  Yes, we fight over the wedding.  Yes, some have even called me...umm..a. bridezilla (for the record those people---and there happens to be a few of you--- really should watch that show..just a thought).  But I do I love my wedding.  It's stressful and overwhelming, but I love it all.  I love the fact I have to finish gluing 60 seashells onto a perfectly tied bow on fans for our guests (ummm which my fingers will be glued together at least twice by doing so).  I love the fact that I have every little detail I have ever dreamed of...from my bridal hanger which my amazing soon-to-be husband fixed after the seamstress destroyed it (it looked like she got angry at the hanger at some point..I am not even sure how it would accidentally happened)...from my dress...aw...my whimsical dreamy dress...to my reception dress...to Key West and our amazing Vendors...to the Southernmost Resort which when we first began talking about marriage we knew we wanted (and this was years ago btw)...to our friends...to our family...to even my mother who I know will be full of joy when she sees me in my dress...to my brother walking me down the aisle...to my dance party the night before...to my amazing new family...and to the fact at the end of it all I will be married to my best friend, soul mate.  Yes, I love it all.  So while you may only hear the bad things from time to time...please remember I am whole heartily smiling in my heart and soul for all of my dreams are coming true this year.  So ...thank you, Mr Tobin for being my Prince Charming. I am ever so filled with joy and so blessed to have the life I lead. Now time for V-E-G-A-S...

See you on the flip side!

And sometimes love just happens

They say the secret to a lasting marriage is to never fall out of love at the same time.  THIS is my story with my dress.  When I first tried it on...I loved it but I didn't love the price tag.  I searched and found it at a shop in California for a price we could swing.  It was a size too big, and needed some work but I loved it.  I began the alteration process 4 months ago...and found a black mark down the side of it.  I was devastated and began questioning my choice but knew I was stuck with it. I had made the commitment.  Today...after all the strings were tied and all the seams were sewn up...I fell in love with my gown...not just love but I fell madly in love with it.  It made me remember just how lucky I am. I have the most supportive and amazing man who is my best friend...and I am so lucky to soon call him my husband.  So without further chit chat...ladies and gentlemen...my dress...

my custom made bustle to show the roses...my seamstress is awesome!

The pictures really don't do it justice....but you get the hint.

Aww....love.

Are you a Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime?

Many friends grow apart and drift away as we get older.  Happens to the best of us...I mean Christopher Robin said good bye to good ol' Winnie the Pooh and Puff the Magic was sadly let go from a dear friendship as well.  Both loving characters who we all adore! It's made me think...and consider I am thankful for the friends I have and had along my way.  Some of brought me many years of laughter and comfort and some have brought me tears.  Some friends you fight to stay close and some you realize it's better left alone and neither of you are benefiting from the friendship anymore.  Friends are suppose to love and support each other.  Be there in good times and bad times.  Friends are not suppose to be nice to your face and then later bad mouth you to others.  Seems childish and unfair.  I have come to learn to have my heart on my sleeve whether good or bad...if I like you, I like you and if I don't so be it...it wasn't meant to be.  One of my biggest flaws is letting people go who I have once loved even when I know it's for the best.

It made me remember this poem I read:

Reason, Season, or Lifetime
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.

— Unknown
For those friends who have come and gone...I am grateful to have had you and those who are lifetime friends ..you amaze me everyday and I love you for being here for me through this wedding planning-good times, crazy times, and bad times!  Some people really want only to see you happy and I am so fortunate to have a few of the many I have standing beside me on the biggest day of my life! Thank you. :)

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Big Project weekend numero uno

So with all of the ideas in my head still floating...well in my head...it's crunch time! We are just shy of 4 months until our big day and it's time for me to start the projects.  So here goes...
Our center pieces...one last look before I start to pack them away.

Mason jar with shells sand, and a candle

23 milk glass vases----too bad we need 24!

4 boxes and counting!

Aisle decorations...only 4 more to make!

That's a lot of wedding FUN!

Favor bags that we decided to cut out the lace.

Fans for the ceremony.

Labels are made for the welcome boxes.  This weekend I am making the candy bar banner and finishing the fans.

4 more months to go...

With now under 4 months until our big day, we are starting to feel the pressure to complete our wedding projects.  It seems like we can no longer say," Oh we need to..." because the facts are we need to do that now. I do have to say I have caught the wedding excitement bug once again now that the guest list is done complete and finalized.

R.S.V.P.'s.
Our date to RSVP by was June 1st and I have to say I am pretty impressed and thanks to an amazing soon-to-be sister-in-law that we have almost all of our responses.  I am patiently waiting on one last friend to respond and then we can finally have a good sense of who will be in our wedding pictures with us for the festivities.

Sadly the USPS failed to deliver a few of our invitations, so to those strangers who opened a loved ones invite---shame-shame and to those invites who are lost in postal system forever I bid you farewell.

So this is us in a snap shot...ummmm don't mind the budget sadly that is quite laughable now!  Thinking we could knock this wedding out in that range was a tad crazy talk.  I won't tell you where our budget is now...most of my friends are in the soon to be engaged range and I don't want to scare anyone.  :)

And the most exciting RSVP we received back was...

Yes, Micky and Minnie, our friends, unfortunately will not be attending but did send a gift and a blessing.  Thank you, Micky and Minnie.
Other news...I have a reception dress! Woohoo.  What's that? What happened to the other reception dress.  Well...after many purchases and searching ...I have bought and returned a few.  We went shopping for the groomsmen attire and stopped and found the most amazing dress and perfect for the occasion.  Shhhh...it's a surprise.  I love it.

Groomsmen attire- I love even more! We decided on a light blue and white shirt with very light khakis.  With the bridesmaid dresses....everything is really coming together:).

Last night we also arranged our first centerpiece.

So all that's left to do is...welcome boxes...programs...fans...desanding area...signs and signs...guest book directions...rehearsal dinner info...bachelorette party and bachelor party...oh my...and ship everything south to our amazing wedding planner in Key West!
